When’s the last time you made a call or visited a website because of a billboard you saw? Have you ever taken a photo of yourself with a billboard and sent it to friends? WHAT IF I told you that Snapchat geofilters are 2017’s version of the billboard? It’s true. It’s the same concept: a targeted, location-based message to a specific group of people. The best part is that Snapchat filters are so shareable, not to mention cheap. I can’t tell you how many random snaps I’ve received from friends with logos of brands they’ve probably never used before. Next time you want to get students to a basketball game, ditch the probably-overpriced campus lawn sign and try a geofilter. Cater it to a specific group: HEY PACKER HALL: WE NEED YOU! You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the engagement. The best part? You can show your boss how many people viewed it and used it. Besides, those “GAME TONIGHT” lawn signs are probably clogging up your marketing closet anyway.
